The Gran Reserva line of 7 Colores stands out for its portfolio that combines traditional red grape varieties with heritage white grape varieties. Undoubtedly, it’s an innovative and distinctive proposition that faithfully reflects the spirit of 7 Colores, a vineyard renowned for its unique approach in the traditional wine world.
The Gran Reserva portfolio aims to break paradigms and create innovative and provocative blends that defy established patterns, where each wine incorporates small portions of non-traditional white grapes to enhance the typical characteristics of the main variety.
Among its varieties is Carmenère/Viognier, where both grapes come from the same vineyard in the Maule Valley and are in harmony with the terroir where they are produced. Here, the white grape adds a floral note, giving life to a wine of great concentration and silky tannins. Its 2017 vintage received an outstanding 90 points from international critic James Suckling, and the 2020 vintage earned 90 points from the national guide Descorchados.
The Pinot Noir/Semillon blend comes from the Casablanca Valley. In this blend, Semillon enhances the fruity characteristic of Pinot Noir with sweeter fruits, thereby increasing the wine’s aromatic profile, which has soft tannins and good structure. James Suckling awarded an outstanding 91 points to its 2019 version, and the 2021 vintage achieved an impressive 90 points.
Finally, the Cabernet Sauvignon/Moscatel variety originates from the Maipo Valley. In this blend, Moscatel adds floral notes and enhances the wine’s aromatic breadth. It’s an intense blend with aromas of black fruits that feels juicy on the palate, with good density and velvety tannins. The 2017 vintage received 91 points in the national guide Descorchados, and the 2018 vintage earned 90 points from Vinous Media.
